Minor Injuries Reported Following Plan Crash Near Winchester

A plane crashed yesterday (Sun) afternoon near Winchester. At about 2:30, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office received reports of a possible crash.

Deputies found a Piper Turbo 6-seater aircraft that had crashed into a field north of the city of Winchester. The pilot and another person on board walked away from the scene with minor injuries.

First responders from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office, Winchester Fire Department, Craigmont Quick Response Unit, Nezperce Ambulance, and Nez Perce Tribal Police were on scene.

The incident has been turned over to the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board for further investigation.

*correction:  This article has been corrected.  The original release from the Lewiston County Sheriff’s Office said Winchester Quick Response was at the crash.  It was actually the Craigmont Quick Response Unit.
