UPDATE: The Asotin County Fire Chief says one person suffered a minor arm burn. The initial cause appears to be smoking-related.
A fire just outside of Clarkston consumed a house this afternoon. Just after 3:00pm firefighters from Clarkston, Asotin County Fire District 1, and Lewiston responded to the home. It’s in the 1300 block of Elm Street. The house suffered major fire and smoke damage and some areas had to be cut open with a chainsaw to access the fire in the attic. There was also burning to the grass in the front yard.
There’s no official word yet on what caused the blaze, but one neighbor said there was an explosion before there were flames.
Firefighters were at the home for more than 2 hours battling the blaze.
