The Washington State Fire Marshal sent out a reminder that it’s not legal yet to celebrate with fireworks. Legal fireworks season starts June 28th, but not in the valley. On the 28th it will be legal to buy them, but local city and state ordinances don’t follow state rules.
In Clarkston, the city ordinance is more restrictive. It is only legal to light off fireworks on July 4th between 9:00am and midnight.
Outside the city, in Asotin County and City of Asotin, you can light fireworks on July 3rd from 11:00am to 11:00pm, July 4th From 11:00am until midnight, and July 5th from 11:00am until 11:00pm.
Garfield County and Pomeroy are currently following state regulations. Garfield County Fire Chief James Cleveland says they may decide as the date gets closer to be more restrictive. Right now on June 28th it will be legal to sell them and let them off from 12:00pm until 11:00pm. On the 29th through July 3rd, you can set them off from 9:00am until 11:00pm. July 4th it’s legal to light those fuses from 9:00am until midnight. Then again on the 5th from 9:00am until 11:00pm.
