The Latah County Sheriff’s Office is putting out a warning for a new scam. They are getting reports that someone is calling citizens saying they need to report to to the Sheriff’s Office. There, they will have to submit handwriting samples for FBI analysis.
The Sheriff’s Office says at this point, the scammers haven’t asked for money. They say whatever happens during the call, remember that the legitimate employees of the Sheriff’s Office won’t ask for money or gift cards. You should be cautious to whom you give information over the phone. They also recommend you report any suspicious activity.
