A Lewiston man succumbed to injuries sustained after being struck by a vehicle while crossing Lewiston’s 21st Street last (Tue) night.
According to a news release from the Lewiston Police Department, at around 9:30 p.m., 80-year-old Dennis Diaz attempted to cross 21st Street from east to west in the 1700 block, just south of Taco Bell. Diaz was not crossing in a crosswalk and was struck by a 2003 Ford F150, driven by 48-year-old Shawn Miller of Lenore. LPD Sergeant Michael Topp was two cars behind Miller when the collision occurred and immediately began life saving measures before Lewiston Medics arrived. Diaz ultimately succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
21st Street was closed for about 3 hours for the investigation by the Lewiston Police Department’s Major Collision Investigation Team.
