The serene campground was disturbed this morning at Hells Gate State Park. We know very little about what happened so far. Reports came in before 11:00 that a woman in the Cottonwood Loop of the campground was becoming unruly with a Park Ranger. Then there were reports of her wielding what was described as a hunting knife 6 to 8 inches long. Nez Perce County Sheriff’s deputies and Idaho State Police responded to the park. We have video of them searching a person at the end of the loop, and putting the person in a Nez Perce Sheriff’s Office pickup. It appears the person was in handcuffs. That person was taken away.
We have called the Sheriff’s office for information, but so far the call has not been returned.
