The Idaho Transportation Department is warning of a scam from people offering to expedite your REAL ID. That’s the Star Card that will get you through airports and places where you’ll otherwise need your passport.
The ITD says they offer to let you pay online for the speedy service, but it’s definitely a scam.
A REAL ID can only be issued in-person at an official DMV office. You can’t apply, or pay, for one online.
ITD recommends that if they offer you a link to follow, don’t click on it. Just delete the message.
