The Idaho Department of Education and College of Western Idaho (CWI) invite educators to secure their registration at this year’s Idaho Indian Education Summit, to take place June 12 and 13 at the CWI campus in Nampa.

This year’s theme, “United Voices Through Indian Education,” covers best practices to support American Indian students statewide. Educators will have the opportunity to connect with subject matter experts for plenary sessions and explore topics in depth during breakout sessions designed to equip them with skills and strategies they can use in the classroom.  Tribal leaders and special guests include author and official model for the U.S. Golden Dollar coin Randy L’Teton, motivational speaker and team building trainer Brian Frejo and other scholars in student success from around the region.

“A great way to ensure that we’re supporting Idaho’s American Indian students is to support the educators who serve them in the classroom,” said Superintendent of Public Instruction Debbie Critchfield.  “This summit represents a hands-on opportunity to really drill into and refine the skills and knowledge needed to ensure success for these students in the classroom, in college and careers and beyond.”

The cost to attend is $100 and teacher in-service credit is available for $50 from Lewis-Clark State College.  Breakfast and lunch will be provided both days.

Attendees can learn more about the summit here and can secure their registration here. Those interested in attending are asked to register by this Sunday, June 8.  CWI is also welcoming vendor applications for this year’s event. Vendors can contact gregwilson@cwi.edu to learn more.
