While Idaho’s average price for regular gasoline is up just a penny from a week ago, drivers experienced significant price changes based on where they live.
According to the American Automobile Association, the average price for a gallon of regular in the Gem State is $3.30, a penny more than a week ago and the same price as a month ago, but a savings of 41 cents from a year ago. The national average is currently $3.14 per gallon, which is nearly four cents less than a week ago and a month ago, and about 40 cents cheaper than a year ago. Idaho moved up one slot to 9th place for the most expensive fuel among the 50 states.
AAA-Idaho’s Matthew Conde says some of the more populated areas in the state, including the Treasure Valley, the Magic Valley, and the Idaho Falls area, saw jumps between two and six cents per gallon this week, while the Panhandle saw the reverse. He added that it would not be a shock if pump prices continue to rise this week despite the fact that crude oil is currently trading around $63 per barrel.
Among Idaho’s largest cities, Boise has the state’s lowest average price per gallon at $3.24, while Lewiston continues to have the highest average price at $3.37.
