
If you have health insurance in Washington, you may end up paying more next year. 14 insurance carriers have requested rate increases of an average of more than 21%.
A press release from the Washington Office of the Insurance Commissioner says it’s largely due to the fact that the Enhanced Advance Premium Tax Credits will expire at the end of the year if they’re not renewed by the federal government. The release says as many as 80,000 people will lose coverage at that time.
United Healthcare of Oregon is asking for an increase of more than 37% to their plans. Regence Blue Shield is requesting the lowest increase of 9.6%
The rate increases are not final yet. They’re currently under review by the Insurance Commissioner.
