Two Army Blackhawk helicopters attracted quite a bit of attention in Lapwai today. They landed at the football field at 9am. They brought several legislative, and military dignitaries to meet with Tribal leaders about the healthcare initiative going on.
Major Jennings is the Officer in Charge of IRT Nimiipuu Wellness. IRT stands for Innovative Readiness Training. She says it’s a win-win for the Army Reserve and the Tribe. They get to team up to hone their medical skills, and the tribal members get top-quality healthcare.
“So it allows us to practice and use all those assets of moving equipment, moving personnel, and then also get that impact back to the community.”
Visiting dignitaries toured the facilities and discussed the program before leaving this afternoon.
