WA Governor Signs Bill To Make Agriculture Fuel Easier To Find

Governor Bob Ferguson signed a bill this week to make it easier for farmers to buy fuel that’s exempt from certain fees.

The Washington legislature enacted the “Climate Commitment Act” in 2020, but farmers across the state were finding it difficult to locate tax-free fuels to use for agricultural purposes.

House Bill 1912 now tasks the Department of Ecology to create a list of locations where farmers can access fuel. The department has until October 1st to create the list and make it available. They will then have to periodically update.

It also extends the agriculture exemption for another two years.
