You’re more likely to get a ticket next week if you don’t buckle up. The Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office is teaming up with the Transportation Department’s Office of Highway Safety and other law enforcement agencies to get people to wear their seat belts.

The increased effort runs May 18th through June 1st. A release from the Sheriff’s Office says deputies will issue citations to those not wearing a seat belt, and educating Idahoans on the importance of buckling up.

It’s no coincidence that it’s happening over Memorial Day Weekend. The holiday is an especially dangerous time on American roads. It’s the first long weekend of the summer travel season and start of the ‘100 deadliest days’, when fatal accidents increase on our roads.
