Culdesac School was on lockout yesterday starting around 10:30 at the advice of the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office.  Lockout is different from lockdown.  The outer doors to the school were locked, but students still moved around inside the building.

A Sheriff’s Office representative says someone called in a report of a mentally disturbed person in town with a machete yelling.  Deputies located the man on Jog Alley and found him in his yard.  They did find a machete in the yard, but they didn’t find him wielding it.  The representative says he was yelling and screaming, but committed no crime.  He never threatened anyone.  No one was hurt.  Deputies offered mental health help, but the man declined.

The lockout was just a precaution.
