Wildfire Predictions Above Normal In June For Eastern WA and North Idaho

May is Wildfire Awareness Month, and while May predictions are normal for our area, June’s not looking as good. The National Interagency Fire Center predicts an above-average wildfire potential for June, July, and August. By August, even traditionally-wet western Washington and Oregon are above-average for wildfire potential.

So far this year across the U.S., the number of wildfires is 47% above average. The total acres burned is only 8% above average though.
