Gov. Ferguson Signs Bill To Keep Other States’ National Guard Out of WA

WA Governor Bob Ferguson signed a bill today that keeps other states’ National Guard units out of Washington.

House Bill 1321 is based largely on Idaho’s statute, with most of it the same word-for-word. It says “No armed military force from another state, territory, or district is permitted to enter the state of Washington for the purpose of doing military duty therein, without the permission of the governor, unless such force has been called into active service of the United States, and is acting under authority of the president of the United States.”

Governor Ferguson was pleased to sign the bill. He says it’s badly needed in Washington.  He says under the Governor’s orders, it will still allow other states to send help during times of crisis.

The bill became law as soon as it was signed.
