A fire in Lewiston this morning left residents shaken, but not without a home. Early reports show a fire started in a garbage in the 300 block of 16th Ave. The garbage can was against a garage in the alley. The fire spread to the garage and scorched the paint, roof, and gutter. When our reporter arrived, an LPD officer was putting the fire out with a garden hose. Lewiston Firefighters arrived shortly after and made sure the fire was out.

There’s no word yet on what started the fire.

Update:  A press release says the fire extended into the loft inside the garage.  LFD investigators estimate the damage cost at $15,000.
