The Football Championship Subdivision Athletics Directors Association has announced that former University of Idaho safety, Tommy McCormick, has been chosen to receive the 24th Annual Scholar-Athlete of the Year award.

One of only two award recipients, Idaho’s star safety was chosen from 52 FCS ADA Academic All-Star Team honorees and eleven finalists to receive a $5,000 postgraduate scholarship.

A senior, McCormick will complete his bachelor’s degree in medical sciences this spring. Furthering his education, he plans to pursue medical school this summer or in 2026, depending on potential future professional football opportunities.

On the field McCormick led the 2024 Vandals with three interceptions and was second in tackles for one of the best defensive units in the Big Sky Conference. His on-field accomplishments helped him to be named to the 2024 All-Big Sky Conference First Team.
