A bill working its way through the Washington legislature would increase hunting and fishing license fees.

Senate Bill 5583 has passed the senate and is currently in the hands of the representatives.

An annual freshwater license is currently $29.50 for most evergreen-state residents. The new cost would increase to $34.50. An annual saltwater license would rise $5.14. Youth licenses would remain free.

Hunting licenses will go up more. A deer+elk+cougar+bear license would go from $95.50 to $117.30. A deer and elk license would go from $84.50 to $103.50.

Local Senator Mark Schoesler voted against the bill.
