The Upriver Youth Leadership Council earned the Champion for Children Award for 2025. Ronald Reagan declared April to be National Child Abuse Prevention Month.
This year, then Kamiah group earned the recognition for their ongoing support of child abuse and neglect prevention initiatives.
Part of the UYLC’s efforts include the Kamiah Teen Center, offering safe and
engaging space for teens, homework help, life skills classes, and more. They also run the Kamiah Skate Park and have a Youth Advisory Board to help strategize programs.
The group operates through grants, donations, and community support.
