
LHS Boys Drop 5A State Opener To Twin Falls

The Lewiston Bengals were dominated on the glass and lost the opening game of the 5A state tournament against the Twin Falls Bruins 66-49, at Rocky Mountain High School in Meridian.
The Bruins outrebounded Lewiston 39-7 and grabbed 14 offensive rebounds as a team, leading to many second chance points.
How It Happened?
Lewiston started out on fire out of the gates, with a 10-2 run to start the game, thanks to two three pointers. Twin Falls responded by closing the 1st Quarter on a 16-7 run, to lead 18-17 after one.
The Bruins dominated the 2nd Quarter, out-scoring Lewiston 17-5, taking a 35-22 lead into the halftime break. Twins Falls continued to dominate the glass, building the lead to 24 at the end of the 3rd.
However, Lewiston fought back in the fourth quarter, not going down without a fight. The Bengals cut the lead from 26, down to 14 with four minutes left, but couldn’t get any closer.
Standout Performances
Twin Falls was led by 6’5” sophomore Trey Billings, who had 23 points & 19 rebounds (7 offensive) in the win. The Bruins had three players in double figures, junior guard Ty Hess with 17 points & 7 assists and senior Ryker Rex with 15 points and 6 rebounds.
Lewiston was led by Royce Fisher & Jordan Walker, each with 14 points in the losing effort.
What’s Next?
With the loss, Lewiston is out of contention for the 5A state title. The Bengals will play tomorrow in the consolation bracket against the sixth-seeded Columbia Wildcats at noon local time, 11 AM PT. Columbia lost their opening round game to third-seeded Hillcrest 46-37.

With the win, Twin Falls advances to the state semifinal and will play Hillcrest at 5 PM local time.
