To ensure the safety of all travelers this holiday season, the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office is increasing its efforts to prevent impaired driving through enhanced DUI patrols.

Beginning this Friday and continuing through January 2nd, Sheriff Deputies will be conducting high-visibility patrols to remove impaired drivers from the road. Driving while impaired is not just illegal, it’s deadly, and the department’s goal is to keep everyone safe as over the holidays. The Sheriff’s Department is reminding everyone to make responsible decisions and always plan ahead for a safe ride home.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, drunk driving incidents tend to rise during the holiday season, with alcohol related crashes accounting for a significant percentage of fatalities. Law enforcement agencies remind the public that impaired driving is 100% preventable. Celebrate responsibly and make this holiday season a safe one for all.
