A town hall meeting has been scheduled for Wednesday night to discuss the Asotin County Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) which was last updated in 2008. A core team of representatives from local, state, and federal agencies, and community members have contributed to the updated plan.

The wildfire protection plan is a document that identifies local fire danger and helps guide the community in reducing that danger. The plan highlights local resources, knowledge, and needs, then offers achievable solutions to the issues that the community may have faced in the past when implementing fire mitigation actions.

The draft plan will be available for public comments. Organizers are asking any Asotin County resident who would like to provide input on the plan to attend the meeting. Input on the plan, which can affect residential and rural areas of Asotin County, is important and will be considered when developing projects and goals included in the final version of the updated plan.

The town hall meeting will run from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Asotin County Fire District #1 facility located at 2377 Appleside Boulevard in the Clarkston Heights.
