Washington State men’s basketball senior Cedric Coward has been named the West Coast Conference Player of the Week. Coward scored a career-high 30 points in last Monday’s win over Northern Colorado, adding 22 points in the Cougars’ win over Eastern Washington, Thursday in Spokane.
In the Nov. 18 contest against the UNC Bears, Coward matched a Division-I career-high with 30 points, after setting his career-high with 30 points last season against Northern Colorado. Coward became the first Coug with 30 points in a game since Myles Rice scored 35 at Stanford, Jan. 18, 2024, and his fourth double-digit game as a Coug.
Coward guided Wazzu to an undefeated week with a Thursday night win over his former team. The Fresno, Calif., native scored 22 points, added nine rebounds, a WSU career-high seven assists, two blocks, and a steal in the win over the Eagles. Over two games, Coward shot 19-of-30 (.633) from the floor, including 5-of-11 from deep (.455).
The weekly conference recognition marks Coward’s second-career recognition and first for the Cougars this season. As a sophomore, Coward was named the Big Sky Player of the Week, Dec. 27, 2022 with a triple-double during his time as an EWU Eagle.
