Warrior Athletics excelled over the weekend with success on the golf course and the volleyball court. Student-athletes Isabella Barquet of women’s golf and Juliauna Forgach Aguilar of volleyball were rewarded with Cascade Conference Athlete of the Week honors for their stellar performances.
ISABELLA BARQUET – WOMEN’S GOLFER OF THE WEEK
Barquet had the best performance of her career at one of the most competitive NAIA tournaments in the nation. The sophomore tied for eighth at the Northwest Iowa National Invitational after a 7-over, 223 performance. Barquet’s week was highlighted by a 2-under round of 70 to help No. 20 LC State set a team scoring record with a total of 292 in the round. The Warriors placed third ahead of No. 18 OUAZ (Ariz.) and No. 25 Morningside (Iowa).
This is the first weekly honor of Barquet’s career.
The Warrior women are back in action Oct. 7-8 at the Briarwood Shooutout in Billings, Mont.
JULIAUNA FORGACH AGUILAR – VOLLEYBALL ATTACKER OF THE WEEK
The junior outside hitter averaged 5.13 kills per set to help LC State split against Oregon Tech and No. 5 Southern Oregon over the weekend. Forgach Aguilar tallied 22 kills against OIT and added 19 against SOU to lead each match. She hit .305 between the two matches, highlighted by a .360 mark on Friday, and assisted on nine blocks for 1.13 per set.
This is third weekly honor of Forgach Aguilar’s career and first this season.
