
Crews working to suppress three large wildfires in the area continue to report good progress.
The Gwen Fire east of Lewiston has held steady at 28,820 acres and is now 90 percent contained.
A local Type 4 Team has taken over command of the blaze and is utilizing four engines, a water tender and a fire line medic to support mop up and patrol operations.
Motorists traveling through the fire zone are advised to slow down as the threat of rolling rocks and other debris remains. Additionally, some delays can be expected along State Highway 3 as utility workers continues to work to replace power poles and repair powerlines in efforts to restore power to the communities impacted by the fire.
The Lower Granite Fire also known as the Dan Fire burning near Pomeroy is listed at 14,482 acres and is now 99 percent contained.
The Cougar Creek Fire burning southwest of Clarkston in Asotin and Garfield counties and Wallowa County, Oregon has grown slightly to 20,666 acres and containment has grown to 35 percent. Crews continue to construct direct and indirect fire line on the blaze.
