Minimal growth has been seen on three large wildfires burning in the area.

The Gwen Fire east of Lewiston is 28,410 acres and is now listed at 85 percent contained.

Travelers along U.S. Highway 12 are advised to drive slowly through the fire area between Arrow Bridge and Cherrylane. Steep terrain, combined with the fire have resulted in rolling rocks and other debris on the roadway. Personnel have been assigned to patrol and monitor the highway in efforts to keep the roadway clear.

The Cougar Creek fire burning southwest of Clarkston grew slightly to 18,258 acres and remains 29 percent contained.

The Lower Granite fire also known as the Dan fire burning near Pomeroy was relatively quiet yesterday (Thur) and is now 14,482 acres and remains 50 percent contained.

Crews on all three fires continue to construct fire lines. Hot spots are being addressed and mop-up operations continue in areas deemed safe enough to engage directly.
