COLFAX, WA – A 26-year-old former Pullman man has been charged with First-Degree Manslaughter in connection with a fatal shooting of his roommate at a party near the Washington State University campus nearly three years ago. According to a press release from the Whitman County Prosecutor’s Office, George Harris, III, allegedly shot and killed 23-year-old Liban Barre on College Hill on September 25, 2021. Another man, 22-year-old Brandon Gray, was shot and injured.
“Later that day George Harris III was arrested for Assault in the Second Degree. A very thorough and intensive investigation was conducted by the Pullman Police Department, though due to the nature and complexity of the evidence it took time for the case to fully develop. The man who was shot and injured has been uncooperative with law enforcement and no charges will be brought in relation to his injuries,” Chief Deputy Prosecutor Dan LeBeau says.
“Mr. Harris has been charged in Whitman County Superior Court with one count of Manslaughter in the First Degree in the shooting death of Liban Barre. It must be noted that a charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless he is proven guilty,” LeBeau adds.
Harris will make his first appearance in Whitman County Superior Court on July 19th at 10:30 a.m.
