
Two teams were eliminated on Day Two of the Avista NAIA World Series at Harris Field in Lewiston Saturday.
Hope International of California defeated Kansas Wesleyan 11-5 in Game Five, while Cumberlands of Kentucky eliminated William Carey of Mississippi 6-4 in Game Six.
In the winners bracket of the tournament, Arizona Christian upset #1 seed Southeastern of Florida in 11 innings 5-3, and in Game Seven Georgia Gwinnett beat Indiana Southeast 5-2 in Game Eight.
Sunday is an off day and the tournament resumes with four games Monday.
Two elimination games will be played beginning at 8:35 a.m Monday when Southeastern meets Cumberlands. Then at 11:35 a.m. Indiana Southeast plays Hope International.
Monday’s winner’s bracket games feature Arizona Christian and Reinhardt of Georgia at 3:05 p.m., and in the final game Monday night Tennessee Wesleyan will face Georgia Gwinnett at 6:35 p.m.
All NAIA World Series games are being broadcast free online here and the Tennessee Wesleyan/Georgia Gwinnett game will also be carried live locally in the LC Valley on 95.5 FM and AM 950 KOZE.
