Pullman Woman Dies & Ohio Man Critically Injured in Head-On Collision on US 95,

TENSED, ID – A 45-year-old Pullman woman succumbed to injuries sustained in a head-on collision near Tensed in Benewah County late this morning. The Idaho State Police says at approximately 11:23 a.m., the unidentified woman was driving a 2019 Ford Escape on US 95 near milepost 379 when she collided with a 2020 Volvo tractor-trailer driven by a 31-year-old male from Toledo, Ohio.

“The driver and sole occupant of the Ford Escape was critically injured and died at the scene.  The driver and sole occupant of the Volvo Tractor sustained critical injuries and was transported by air ambulance to a local hospital.  The Benewah County Coroner’s Office will release the decedent’s identity and determine the cause and manner of death,” ISP says in a press release.

Traffic on US 95 was blocked in both directions for approximately four hours to allow emergency responders to assist those involved.  After approximately four hours, the roadway was reopened with a single lane of travel to allow traffic to pass.  The incident remains under investigation by the Idaho State Police.
