The Warrior women closed out the 2024 Cascade Conference Golf Championships, presented by U.S. Bank, with a third-place finish as a team. LC State freshman Isabella Barquet turned in the second-best round of the tournament to lead the team.
“Although we couldn’t get the job done today, I am proud of the way we fought,” Head Coach Zach Anderson said. “Congrats to Kyla (Currie) and Deana (Caruso) on great careers. Thank you to both of them for all they did for the women’s golf program. This year was a big learning experience for us. We will be back and better next year.”
Deana Caruso earned All-Cascade Conference honors with the fifth-best scoring average in CCC play at 78.1. Kyla Currie also earned All-CCC recognition with the eighth-best average at 79.8.
Barquet and Caruso finished the tournament tied for 10th at 236. Barquet shot a 1-under, 71, the best of tournament outside of a 67 by tournament champion Jessica Ng of UBC. The freshman shaved 12 strokes off her second round with six birdies to finish in the top 10. Caruso shot 7-over, 79 to tie with Barquet for 10th.
Dallis Shockey repeated her second-round total with a 7-over, 79, to finish 13th in the field of 34 golfers. Senior Currie carded an 83 to finish 17th. The scoring team shot 312 in the third round.
Top-ranked UBC swept the tournament and individuals titles. The Thunderbirds fired off the best round of the tournament with a 292.
