CLARKSTON, WA – A 25-year-old man who allegedly had an altercation with a family member over a car was arrested Tuesday afternoon. According to a Probable Cause Affidavit, Christopher Collier was booked into the Asotin County Jail on a charge of Second-Degree Assault – Domestic Violence.

The court document says Clarkston Police responded to the 200 block of 13th Street at 4:15 p.m. after a witness called and reportedly said the man “just came in and started fighting.”

The alleged victim told officers that Collier had entered the building, and an argument ensued about a car Collier was using but did not legally own, the affidavit says, adding that Collier was asked to leave, but he refused.

A physical altercation began, and at one point, Collier overpowered the 52-year-old man and allegedly placed him in what is commonly referred to as a “rear-naked chokehold,” the affidavit says.

“This means that Christopher and [the victim] were on the ground, Christopher was on [his] back, Christopher had his arms around [the man’s] neck or had [his] neck in the crease of his elbow, and pressure was applied to ultimately cut [off] air and bloodflow to the brain, also known as “to strangle,” the document explains.

An employee reportedly separated the two men, and police arrived a short time later.

“[The man’s] eyes were a little bloodshot and he was admittedly exhausted from the fight as well as being choked,” the affidavit says. “He advised that he could not breathe while being choked.”

Collier’s bond was set at $10,000.
