An investigation by Idaho County officials has concluded that a New Meadows man who was killed March 20 was hit by a falling tree while cutting firewood.

In a news release, the sheriff’s office reported 28-year-old Tyrel Walker had been cutting firewood in the Allison Creek area of the main Salmon River.

Dispatch received a 911 call at 12:52 a.m. March 20 that Walker was being transported to Riggins. At the time of the call Walker was reportedly unconscious but still had a pulse.
