The Lewis-Clark State Track and Field program announced the signings of four student-athletes for the 2024-25 season. They group of Alexzander Lambson, Jacklin Linnemeyer, Junior Mendoza and Faith Wersland will bolster the throws squad.

Lambson is a senior at St. Marie’s High School in St. Marie’s, Idaho. He qualified for State in the discus and javelin as a freshman and junior and was named a team captain.

“One of a number of additions to our throws program,” Head Coach Mike Collins said. “Like we see with a lot of our throwers, it may take a year to really get going because of the bigger implements, but we believe he will adjust quickly and hopefully see him being a scorer by the time we get to conference.”

Linnemeyer, also from St. Marie’s, hit personal-best marks of 117-feet, 8-inches in the discus and 33-feet, 9.5-inches in the shot put as a junior. She holds the school record in the discus. Linnemeyer was voted the team’s MVP and earned medalist honors at the State and district meet. She was also named a team captain.

“Her focus will likely be on the discus, but a very athletic young lady that I am sure we will work to teach the weight and hammer to,” Collins said. “Like a lot of our recruits, small school gal that, with the support of teammates and coaches, will undoubtedly improve.”

Mendoza hails from Hansen, Idaho, and is a senior at Hansen Jr/Sr High School. He threw a personal-best 43-feet, 0.5-inches in the shot put and 135-feet, 8-inches in the discus. He helped the Huskies to the 2022 Men’s Sawtooth Conference title.

“Similar to our other recruits, yet another small-town kid,” Collins added. “Will take some time to help him get stronger and more powerful, but a lot of untapped potential. We hope that he is a conference scorer by the end of his first year and a national qualifier after that.”

Wersland brings collegiate experience as a transfer from Spokane Falls CC and is a graduate of Cle Elum Roslyn High School. The native of Cle Elum, Wash., has ties to LC State with her brother, Isaac, playing for the Warrior Baseball team in 2019. She has personal-best marks of 10.73m in the shot put and 40.69m in the hammer throw while with the Sasquatch.

“Faith is going to make a great addition,” Collins said. “She has gotten some great coaching and has already developed well at SFCC. We hope to continue that here and are excited about her future.”
