St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and The Idaho Foodbank Partner to Host Free Heart-Healthy Cooking Classes

LEWISTON, ID – St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and The Idaho Foodbank are partnering to launch a free heart-healthy cooking series. The interactive cooking class is designed to help the community enhance their culinary skills and learn new healthy eating techniques.

The heart-healthy cooking series will be led by local Chef Blaine, who will guide participants through hands-on meal preparation. The program includes healthy eating tips from the Nutritional Services Department of St. Joseph Regional Medical Center.

Heart disease is currently the leading cause of death in the United States, and adopting a healthy diet is an essential part of preventing heart disease. The heart-healthy cooking series aims to provide the community with the skills and knowledge they need to make healthy eating choices and prevent heart disease.

The cooking series will take place at The Idaho Foodbank’s Teaching Kitchen, located at 3331 10th St., Lewiston, Idaho. The classes will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, and Thursday, February 22, 2024, with two sessions each day from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m. Registration is required and can be done by calling 208.799.5744 or emailing jaclyn.meyers@sjrmc.org.

The following dishes will be demonstrated and sampled:

– Oat Avocado-Berry Breakfast Bars
– White Bean and Quinoa Burgers with Avocado
– Black Bean Salad
5 to 7 p.m. Class:
– Eggplant, Cheese, and Tomato Bake
– Roasted Beet and Citrus Salad
– Peanut Butter Chocolate Cheesecake Dip with Fruit
