Lewiston Fire Causes $120,000 in Damage

LEWISTON, ID – Lewiston Fire Department crews responded to a report of a structure fire in the 2300 block of 7th Street at 10:44 a.m. today. First-arriving firefighters found smoke coming from the eaves of a home. The reporting party had arrived home to find smoke coming from the residence and informed the dispatcher that no one was in the home and a dog had been removed.

“Crews entered the structure and attacked the seat of the fire on the first floor and attic area. Vertical ventilation was used to remove smoke and heat from the attic area. The fire was knocked down quickly and crews remained on scene for overhaul operations for approximately one hour,” according to a press release.

The department responded with three structural engines, three ambulances, three chief officers, and one fire investigator for a total of 19 personnel. Clarkston Fire Department also responded with one structural engine with three personnel as part of the Valley Auto Aid Agreement.

The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates to the home are approximately $80,000 to the structure and $40,000 in contents. No firefighter or civilian injuries were reported.
