Fire Damages Two Structures in the Lewiston Orchards

The Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a structure fire last (Tue) night at approximately 9:00 pm at 1209 Grelle Avenue in the Orchards. First arriving crews found heavy fire conditions coming from a one story residential structure with fire spread to the neighboring home, vehicles and contents surrounding the structure.

Crews attacked the blaze utilizing multiple handlines, getting the fire under control in after about 45 minutes. Firefighters remained on scene for another 3 hours to overhaul the property, utilizing the assistance of a city backhoe.

There were no injuries reported.

The department responded with 3 structural engines, 2 ambulances, 2 chief officers, 2 fire inspectors, mutual aid from the Clarkston Fire Department, and the Asotin County Fire District and the Wheatland Fire District.

Damages of the properties are estimated at $500,000 and the cause of the fire remains under in investigation.
