Riggins Man Dies in Collision North of New Meadows

Idaho State Police are investigating a fatal two-vehicle collision that occurred yesterday (Mon) at 10:39 AM, on US Highway 95 at milepost 173, North of New Meadows.

A 2004 Chevy Silverado, driven by a 63-year-old man from Riggins, was traveling southbound. A 2023 Kenworth semi-truck and trailer, driven by a 33-year-old male from Schaumburg, IL, was traveling northbound. The Silverado crossed left of center and struck the trailer, then overturned and came to rest on its top.

The driver of the Silverado, who was not wearing a seatbelt, succumbed to his injuries on scene.

The driver of the Kenworth, who was wearing a seatbelt, did not require medical attention.

The southbound lane was blocked for about four and a half hours to allow emergency personnel to assist those involved and to clear the scene.
