The Lewiston Fire Department was dispatched to a backyard pool fire last (Wed) night.

According to a press release, at 10:40 pm a fire broke out in a swimming pool full of yard debris at 5th St. & Bryden Ave. First arriving crews found a large amount of white smoke and flames coming from the back of the residence. Crews made access to the back yard and found a large in-ground swimming pool full of yard debris on fire. There were no structures threatened.

Mutual aid was requested specifically from the Asotin County Fire District to utilize their 2 water tenders, which allowed Bryden Avenue to remain open and keep traffic flowing while a large amount of water was utilized to extinguish the debris fire.

Crews were on scene for 2 hours ensuring the fire was contained within the concrete pool structure.

There were no citizen or firefighter injuries reported.
