LC State Volleyball Drops Battle of Warriors to No. 6 Corban

SALEM, OR – LC State Volleyball took on the No. 6-ranked team in the NAIA on Saturday in the Corban University Warriors. The hosting Warriors defeated the LC State Warriors in straight sets (25-15, 25-20, 25-12).

With the loss, LC State is 7-14 overall and 6-10 in Cascade Conference play.

HOW IT HAPPENED

A kill by Juliauna Forgach Aguilar marked the first for the Warriors in the match to make it a 7-3 contest. An error by Corban sparked a three-point run, with a block by Katie Rainville and kill by Hallie Seaman, to bring the LC Warriors within one at 7-6. Corban rallied to a 12-6 lead to force an LC pause. Forgach Aguilar and Gianna Anderson tallied kills out of the timeout to cut the difference to 12-8. Another run by the sixth-ranked team in the country had LC trailing 16-9, then 20-14. Corban took the set 25-15.

Forgach Aguilar put LC State up 4-3 with a kill in the second set and a swing by Anderson made it 7-5. Corban started a back-and-forth after tying the frame 9-9 before rallying to pull ahead 16-12. A kill by Forgach Aguilar cut the margin to 18-15 and Rainville kept the difference at three with a score of 19-16. Corban carried the momentum to a 25-20 set score.

A Corban error and kills by Forgach Aguilar had LC State trailing 6-3 in the third frame. Seaman helped maintain the three-point difference with a kill at 7-4. The hosting Warriors maintained their control of the match, leading by as many as 13 points, en route to a 25-12 win in the set.

Forgach Aguilar led LC State with eight kills in the match. Kailiponi dished out nine assists and Natany Felix Guimaraes had 14 digs. Senior Kenzie Dean had five digs to tie for third all-time in the LC State record books with 1,571.
