Motorcycle Crash Claims Life of Lewiston Woman

LEWISTON, ID – A Lewiston woman was killed and an Orofino man was seriously injured in a motorcycle crash in Lewiston this afternoon. According to the Lewiston Police Department, rescue personnel were dispatched to 14th Street and 14th Avenue at around 1:20 p.m.

“Due to the extent of the injuries, Lewiston Police Major Collision Investigation Team responded,” a press release says.

That press release says a 2018 Yamaha motorcycle driven by 25-year-old James Weese of Orofino with a passenger of 25-year-old Alyssa Slusher of Lewiston was northbound on 14th Street when it lost control and struck a parked car on the east side of the street. Both riders were thrown from the motorcycle.

“Slusher succumbed to her injuries at the hospital,” the press release says. “Weese was transported to Spokane, WA by Life-flight due to his injuries.”

Both riders were wearing helmets.

Fourteenth Street was closed for approximately 3-1/2 hours during the investigation.

The collision remains under investigation.
