Potlatch School District Awarded Over $989,000 in Grant Money for Career Technical Education

The Potlatch School District has been awarded an Idaho Career Ready Student Grant in the amount of more than $989,000. Funding from the grant will be used to create a new forestry and natural resources pathway for students in the Potlatch School District.

According to school district officials, funds from the grant will the district to update equipment in the Wood Shop and Welding Shop, upgrade electrical and HVAC to run equipment and keep students safe, and expand learning areas. In addition, it will enhance the current Ag Program and add Forestry and Natural Resources as a pathway.

The Idaho Career Ready Students program focuses on CTE opportunities in Idaho High Schools and Middle Schools. According to state department of education the program provides incentive to districts to create programs that prepare students to meet local and regional industry and workforce needs.
