Authorities Identify Man Found Dead in Clearwater River Near Orofino in May

LEWISTON, ID – A man whose body was found in the Clearwater River on May 28 has been identified as 38-year-old Damien Kucich of South Lake Tahoe, California. An autopsy determined the cause of death to be from drowning.

According to a press release from the Nez Perce County Sheriff’s Office, detectives have interviewed multiple people over the last two months and have been able to identify the last known subjects to be with Kucich before his death. 29-year-old Ryan William Nicholas of Ahsaka and 33-year-old Rebekah Ramos of Truckee, California have been interviewed by detectives.

Kucich is believed to have gotten out of a white 2014 Lexus SUV registered to Ramos, near Deano’s Convenience story in Orofino sometime after midnight on May 27th. Kucich was last seen wearing Khaki shorts and lime green shoes in the area of Deano’s near the bank of the Clearwater River.

According to the press release, at this time there is no information available that Nicholas or Ramos are responsible for Kucich’s death.

Both Nicholas and Ramos are currently in custody at the Nez Perce County Jail on charges unrelated to the death of Kucich.
