Teenager Airlifted From Craigmont After Accidentally Shooting Himself in the Face

CRAIGMONT, ID – The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the accidental discharge of a firearm that occurred in the 100 block of Boulevard Avenue in Craigmont yesterday afternoon. According to Sheriff Jason Davis, the Lewis County Emergency Communications Center received a 911 call at approximately 4:22 p.m. and the dispatcher was told that a male, later identified as 18-year-old Cory Miner, had accidentally shot himself in the cheek.

“When Deputies arrived on scene Miner was being attended to by the Craigmont Quick Response unit. The 38 special revolver involved in the incident was recovered,” Davis says. “Witnesses at the residence stated that Miner was playing with the revolver when it discharged striking Miner in the cheek.”

Miner was airlifted to St. Joseph Regional Medical Center and stabilized prior to being transported to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane for further observation.
