ISP: Vehicle Crashes Into Clearwater River

OROFINO, ID – The Idaho State Police responded to a vehicle in the Clearwater River on Friday at about 9:45 a.m. According to a press release, the crash happened at milepost 37.5 in Nez Perce County.

“The 56 year-old male driver from Kooskia, ID was driving westbound on US12 when he failed to maintain his lane. The vehicle left the roadway and struck the guard rail before going down an embankment into the river. The 77 year-old female passenger from Kamiah, ID was transported to a local hospital,” officials say.

The westbound lane of US 12 was closed for two hours. It is unknown if the occupants were wearing seatbelts. The crash remains under investigation.
