Asotin County Had Washington’s Lowest Unemployment Rate in May

The Washington State Employment Security Department has released county by county unemployment rates for May.

The state jobless rate dropped to 4.3 percent in May as the state added 6.100 jobs during the month.

Locally, Asotin County reported an unemployment rate of 2.4 percent; Whitman County was at 3 percent; Garfield County 3.8 percent; and Columbia County’s May unemployment rate was 3.1 percent.

Asotin County’s unemployment rate was tied with San Juan County for the state’s lowest jobless rate.
