Lewis-Clark State College and Blue Mountain Community College in Pendleton, Ore., have signed a Transfer Articulation Agreement that will help BMCC students who earn associate degrees transfer into LC State baccalaureate degree programs, officials from both colleges have announced.

The agreement went into effect on May 1 and under its provisions BMCC’s associate degree graduates will be granted admission to LC State and be considered juniors, with some exceptions. LC State programs, such as education, nursing, and social work, require additional and separate application processes and admission. Those programs do not fall under the articulation agreement.

Students who complete an Associate of Arts (AA), Associate of Science (AS) or Applied Associate of Science (AAS) degree at BMCC will have those credits transferred to LC State. In addition, students who complete an Associate of Arts Oregon Transfer (AAOT), Associate of Science Oregon Transfer/Computer Science (ASOT/CS) or Associate of Science Oregon Transfer/Business (ASOT/BUS) will be considered core certified. Unless a specific core-level class is required for a specific baccalaureate program at LC State, these students also will have satisfied all lower-level core requirements.

The staffs of both institutions will work together to coordinate meetings between selected faculty and staff to develop, review, or update program-specific articulation agreements. LC State will have access to BMCC students to promote the agreement and will provide BMCC’s academic leadership and advising staff with annual updates on any curriculum changes.

LC State is accepting applications for the 2023 fall semester through Aug. 8. Classes start on Aug. 21. For more information on applying for the fall, visit www.lcsc.edu/apply.
