
LEWISTON, ID – After more than 31 years of service, Lewiston’s Fire Chief made his final call to dispatch today at noon. Travis Myklebust announced last fall that he had chosen his 50th birthday as his final day at the Lewiston Fire Department.
Myklebust was around 18 years old when he began his career as part of the Idaho Department of Lands Helitack crew in 1991, according to his LinkdIn account. He has held positions of
“The wonderful people I have had the pleasure to work with and the supportive community members I have served make this a bittersweet decision, but it is time,” Myklebust said in a previous press release.
One of the biggest impacts Myklebust made during his more than eight years as LFD chief was the establishment of mutual aid agreements with the City of Clarkston and the Clearwater Paper Fire Department. He also backed measures that improved firefighters’ health.
