OLYMPIA, WA – General Mills today is recalling two date codes of its two-, five-, and 10-pound bags of Gold Medal Unbleached and Bleached All Purpose Flour due to potential Salmonella. The Washington State Department of Health says as of Sunday, there have been 13 reports in 12 states of illness linked to the consumption of flour. No cases have been reported in Washington or Idaho at this time, although there is one case in Oregon.

“Based on epidemiological data collected by CDC, several cases reported exposure to raw Gold Medal brand flour including consuming raw dough or batter. FDA’s traceback investigation identified a single production facility of the flour consumed by patients. FDA initiated an inspection at the General Mills Kansas City, MO facility and collected product samples. One sample was found to be positive for Salmonella which matched the strain of Salmonella making people sick in this outbreak,” the DOH says.

The products being recalled have production dates of March 27th and March 28th of this year.
