MOSCOW, ID – The Moscow Police Department says this afternoon they received several reports that a scammer has been calling members of the community pretending to be several different officers from the agency. The scammer is stating that the person receiving the phone call has “urgent business” with us.
“Please be advised that these phone calls are not coming from a legitimate MPD source,” MPD says. “If you receive a similar phone call, DO NOT provide any identifying information, transfer bank funds or purchase items – such as gift cards. Law enforcement agencies will never ask you to pay money or purchase items to avoid criminal action.”
